Have you heard about the co-op Green Stamp program? If you haven't, you're in for a treat! If you already collect these handy little stickers, then read on; you might learn something new!
Every day the co-op puts to use the idea of re-use, reduce and recycle. We provide the basic supplies that you need to shop here: plastic bags, bulk containers, coffee bags and grocery bags. Unfortunately we have to charge a small amount for using them. With five cents for plastic bags and up to twenty cents for containers the cost to you can add up quickly. We also understand that the casual shopper might not realize that we offer an incentive to cut down on your costs and help the environment.
This incentive is our Green Stamp program. This consists of a commitment to re-using your containers, cutting down on gasoline and helping reduce the amount of natural resources used every day.
For every one of the following categories you receive one stamp:
After you've collected 100 stamps (it seems like a lot, but don't worry they add up fast), you receive a five dollar gift certificate for being an outstanding green scout!
My recommendation: Keep your green stamp booklet in your favorite cloth bag. When you go shopping you'll already have it on you! Remember to let us know if any of your items are recycled before we ring you out, and be sure to ask for your stamps before you leave knowing that you've helped our mother Earth!
